A 1920's Themed Wedding

Wow, I have seriously neglected my blog.  I have photographed a couple of weddings and Roller Derby.....still yet to edit those photo's.

The wedding of our friends, Pete & Julie was alot of fun.  With a 1920's theme it I couldn't help but use a sepia look alot!  Shooting in the backyard of their friends was challenging with the harsh light of the early afternoon streaming through between the trees.

Loved using my wide angle lens to get right up to the couple and get some really interesting angles.

Shooting A Dog Show

Wow, it has been waaay too long since I have posted to my blog.  It isn't I haven't been shooting but having been spending so much time on the ACTRFS blog www.actrfs.blogspot.com I have neglected my own blog!!  Time to catch up!

I replied to a casting call through Model Mayhem in regards to a shoot at a dog show!  I thought why the hell not, I haven't done that before.....similar to my thoughts about the bikini contest a while back.  They saying of don't work with kids and pets I can totally understand ;)

Canberra Capitals Preliminary Final

Last weekend I had the privilege of going to my first WNBL game to see the Canberra Capitals play.  Ms Beatty, who is one of the first posts in this blog, organised a fantastic seat for me.  I couldn't believe how close to the action you are!!  Having never shot a basketball game before I didn't really know what to expect.  I knew the action would be fast and the lighting was pretty good inside.

Vida Drink Launch

The other weekend I had the pleasure in going to Civic Pool and photographing at the product launch of the Vida drinks.  There was heaps of entertainment and the main showing of the day was the Bikini Contest.  Photographically it was a great opportunity to shoot outdoors and thankfully it was an overcast day so not too many harsh shadows.

Summernats 2011

Happy New Year to all.  Sorry this next blog has taken soooo long to come!!  My new years resolution is to keep this blog updated more regularly!!  Through work with the ACT Rural Fire Service I have been working to get their blog up and running http://www.actrfs.blogspot.com/

The weekend after new year I attended the annual Summernats held here in Canberra.  It has been running for 24 years and not being a petrol head myself had never attended.  I was asked to be a fire marshall at the burn out area which I did and it was a great photo opportunity.

From a photography perspective, I shot these shots using my 70 - 200mm IS f2.8 with a 2 x adapter because I was about 50 meters away.

Miss Summernats 2011

The band that was the entertainment for the evening was The Angels - 'Am I Ever Going To See Your Face Again?'

The shots of the evening entertainment were shot from about 30 meters away and the light was pretty low.  I used my 70-200mm again all the way open at f2.8 to get a fast enough shutter speed to try and keep the shots sharp.

The next post won't take so long to write!!
